The Perfect Day In St Helena

December 6th, 2019

Our home winery at 1500 Whitehall Lane is located on the edge of town in St. Helena, Napa Valley, and somewhere we are proud to call home. When you come to visit us for a private tasting in our barn, walk the grounds of the Estate and experience VASO wines first-hand, we are honored to enjoy a part of your day with you. But, there is also so much else to see and do in our hometown. Need some inspiration for your next visit? Here’s how we’d spend the rest of the day experiencing all the St. Helena has to offer!

Join Us For A Tasting In The Barn
Of course, one of the best days in St. Helena begins with a tasting at our historic property that hosts both VASO Cellars and Dana Estates. The property itself has a rich history dating back to the late 1800’s and can be named as one of Napa Valley’s historic “Ghost Wineries” that existed during prohibition. With the help of iconic designer Howard Backen, we revived our Estate as it stands now. Our tasting at VASO are hosted in our renovated barn surrounded by vines and stonework that dates back to the original property. It wouldn’t be a day in Napa Valley if it didn’t start with wine! Book a tasting with us here.

Take a cooking class at the CIA at Greystone
From hands-on cooking classes to wine tasting trainings, train like a master chef at the CIA (Culinary Institute of America) for the day. You’ll come home not just with great wine from your trip, but a perfect recipe to pair it with too. If you’re feeling more like a spectator than an adventurer, there are also tours and cooking demonstrations available for the casual observer that are great experiences in themselves too.

Eat Like A Californian
There is no shortage of amazing places to eat in St. Helena as an epicenter of chefs and winemakers alike come here to work, eat and play.

If you’re looking for something more casual to break up your wine-tasting, stop over at the St Helena mainstay, Gott’s Roadside. You’ll see the iconic sign from the original roadside days marked as Taylor’s Refresher. The lines may be long, but they certainly go quick these burger and fries are worth the wait.

If you’re ready to go out on the town, make a reservation in advance at farm-to-table Farmstead at Long Meadow Ranch to get a taste of classic California fare in their renovated barn. Or, if you need palate break from your wine experience, gastropub Goose & Gander serves incredible craft cocktails and comfort food in their rustic digs. If it’s warm enough, grab a seat on the patio. Or, cozy up the to basement bar and make friends with the bartender, who will craft up something special for you with the extensive menu.

Cruise down Main Street
Main Street St Helena holds the quaint feel of a small-town and is filled with boutique shops run by Napa Valley locals. There is definitely no opportunity to go home without a souvenir (or two).

Pick up a few chocolates for the hotel room later that night (if they make it) at Woodhouse Chocolates, which is housed in a historic 1890’s building and run by three-generations of chocolatiers, the Anderson/Wood family.

Don’t forget your fur babies at home and be sure to stop in to Fideaux, to pick up a treat and perhaps some dog-wine (non-alcoholic, of course!).

The Perfect Day In St Helena

We hope you find time to come back to our hometown time and again, and we can’t wait to hear about your adventures when you come to taste with us at VASO Cellars.
