Wine Feature: 2015 VASO Cabernet Sauvignon Napa Valley

August 14th, 2019

Complex. Focused. Lush. The core of our 2015 Cabernet Sauvignon is true to the vintage and demonstrates the power and finesse that is Napa Valley wines in every sip.

The 2015 vintage produced excellent fruit quality. Winter and spring were among the warmest on record and pushed for an early bud break. We welcomed a warm spring that led into a hot, dry summer. Through weathering numerous heat spells for consecutive days, the stress on the vines provided the premium quality wine we search for every year. Low-yields and an overall hot vintage stressed our vines and thanks to our expert vineyard management team, we harvested a crop of fruit that developed into one of our most focused Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignons to date.

The finesse of Napa Valley wines comes together with a synergy that plays with both winegrowing and winemaking. Our winemaker Chris Cooney is the mastermind behind each blend that will represents what we believe to be the truest expression of Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon each vintage. The terroir of our vineyards speaks its own unique expression and we’re honored to listen closely.

New collectors of VASO wines will be glad to experience a lush and approachable wine that can easily continue to develop for years to come. Expressive in the glass, fragrances of red currant, plums, sage, and loam are splashed with just hints of tobacco box and spices. Ripe strawberry, forest floor, and a light minerality linger on the finish. Hillside tannins fills out the mid palate after Bing cherries and dried herbs welcome you into the glass.
